For several reasons including: i) the attractive returns possible, helped by investors' general lack of familiarity with this asset class; ii) the relatively short duration of investments - typically 2-3 years (versus typically private equity investment that could take 5 years or longer to mature); and ii) the low correlation with many other asset classes including equities and bonds.
